Posters At My School District!

I was so proud when my school district (Newport-Mesa Unified School District) agreed to Skip the Plastic Straw in all of its 32 schools. However, I realized most of the kids in my school weren't even aware that our district (much less our school!) had skipped the plastic straw, which gave me the idea to create a poster to build awareness among the students, teachers and staff in all the 32 schools. I am grateful to Mrs. Dale Ellis, Nutrition Director of Newport-Mesa Unified School District, and her team for being so open and receptive to having these posters up at all the cafeterias. I hope this communication material will spark an interest in kids who read it to find out more about how they too can stop the use of plastic straws outside of school, and hopefully be ocean heroes by spreading the word to family and friends of the harmful effects of single-use plastic straws.

Posters are up at Corona Del Mar Middle/High School!

I want to give a shoutout to my sister, Ella Lin, who helps to spread Skip the Plastic Straw word to her friends at her elementary school! And thank you Newport Coast Elementary PTA for sharing the great news on NCE Weekly, a weekly school e-newsletter, to raise awareness among parents!
