Educating Kids at Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach
From June through early August 2018, I partnered with the Pacific Marine Mammal Center (PMMC) in Laguna Beach to educate the kids attending their weekly summer camp about single-use plastic straws and my Skip the Plastic Straw campaign. Each week, I was able to meet with new kids attending the camp and share with more than 200 kids (from ages 8-13) and counselors on the harmful effects of single-use plastic straws; hopefully they can help spread the word to their friends and families and start their own campaigns.
When I was in third grade, I attended PMMC's summer camp and even their year-round after-school program and loved it! I would highly recommend this! I am so happy I am able to give back to PMMC by sharing my campaign with kids attending their camps now :)
Thank you CEO of PMMC, Mr Peter Chang; Education Director of PMMC, Kirsten Donald; Public Relations Coordinator, Krysta Higuchi; and all the counselors at the PMMC summer camp, for allowing me to be a partner with PMMC and for being so supportive and encouraging to my campaign.
Over the summer 2019, I was invited back to present to over 60 kids attending PMMC's Summer Camp Pinniped! And this time, my sister joined me in my presentations! Thank you PMMC for having me back!
Thank you PMMC for putting together this amazing video of our partnership to Skip the Plastic Straw, enjoy it below!
Mr. Peter Chang was interviewed by the Chinese World Journal to talk about Pacific Marine Mammal Center and plastic pollution. Thank you Mr. Peter Chang for mentioning our partnership in educating youth about plastic pollution! Click here or the images below to read the article.
